Early in 2022, we were commissioned by Verwood resident Shirley Lee to build a dropped crossing and driveway for her house. The new driveway was to be used for parking and to allow entry to the rear of the property.
About the Project
As our client was a builder renovating her property to sell, she prepped the site for us ahead of time.
When evaluating the site, our planning consultant stipulated that the surface must be permeable to allow for the tree roots beneath. We took this into account with our choice of material: 10mm Open Graded Surface Course.
The drive was 104m2 in dimension, while the dropped crossing was 11m2.
Our deadline was the open day planned for April 2022. We’re proud we managed to complete the project well within the given timeframe, making sure to work around our client’s schedule and availability.

Here’s the end result – both Shirley and the team were ecstatic with it!
The asphalt we used is both tough and permeable, strong enough to withstand heavy traffic but penetrable enough to not obstruct the roots beneath.
