The team at Fletchamoore were recently approached by Steve Masterman of Livability, a disability charity for young adults. Livability were planning to turn an existing site into a wellbeing discovery centre for 16 to 25 year olds with disabilities, and asked Fletchamoore to install various sets of fencing around the area.
The fences were intended to clearly cordon off areas, provide security against break ins, and make navigation around the college easier. Our deadline for the project was September, when the college would open.
About the project
Depending on the purpose of each fenced area, we installed a variety of fencing and gate types:
- Close board
- Post and rail
- Post and rail with stock
- Palisade security
Because of its height, close board fencing offers a high level of privacy. This is why we opted to install it around gardens and areas students would be spending a lot of time in.
We installed post and rail fencing around pathways and more open areas of the grounds. The fences would discourage people from walking where they shouldn’t and make it easier to navigate from point A to point B. In areas where small animals may be found, we added stock fencing to prevent them from slipping through.
Finally, we chose palisade security fencing for the entrance to the college. This ultra-secure metal fencing is nearly impossible to climb or tamper with, and acts as both a strong physical and visual deterrent to intruders.
The Completed Fencing
By the end of the project, the college grounds were secured with sturdy, long-lasting fencing that would protect staff, students, and property, as well as clearly distinguish paths and aid with navigation.
