We recently completed a paving driveway for a customer in Swanage, Mr Birch. The customer was enquiring after a new block paving driveway, fencing services and a dropped kerb.
About the Project
Mr Birch wanted to modernise and make his driveway more accessible for parking.
We visited Mr Birch’s property to complete a site survey, where we assessed the existing driveway to determine the level of work and measure it.
The site visit allowed our installation teams to put together a plan of action for the installation of the 35m² driveway.
There was a wall partly across the driveway, severely restricting entrance to the driveway. Additionally, there was no dropped kerb, which also made it difficult for Mr Birch and any visitors to get a vehicle onto the drive.
On this visit, it was agreed that we would also drop the kerb in front of the driveway, making it easier for cars to get on and off the space.
The first step was to dig up the existing driveway and knock the wall down. In doing this, we removed all concrete in the area and disposed of it.
Once this was done, we installed the concrete slotted posts, concrete and timber fencing panels to create a new, modern boundary for the driveway.
We then needed to lay a sub-base of crushed limestone, ensuring the layer was even so the new driveway would be level.
As we worked on laying the sub-base, we rebuilt the steps leading up to the front door using Brett Omega charcoal grey blocked paving.
A layer of 50mm grit was laid on top of the sub-base, and we put in place a polychannel drainage & soakaway system to ensure that the driveway won’t flood.
The final part of this installation was for our team to lay the Brett Omega charcoal and grey paving blocks, completing the driveway.
Before

The End Result
The result was a new, more modern-looking driveway with paved steps and a new timber fence along one side.
The dropped kerb and removed wall allow easy access to the driveway.
Additionally, in completing this driveway refurbishment, we were also able to level out the space, creating a large parking area for Mr Birch.
