We were recently reached out to by Mr Miller, a resident of Lytchett Matravers. He was interested in having a new tarmac driveway installed on his property and asked us to take care of the entire process, including design, supply, and installation.
About the Project
After arriving at Mr Miller’s property, we began by surveying the area and determining the best size and layout for the new driveway. Ultimately, we settled on placing it across a 195m2 space in front of his house, complete with an entrance through the brick wall border that led directly to the main road.
We came back at a later date to excavate the area to the required depth for the driveway materials. We then added concrete edgings along the sides of the driveway area; these would provide structural support and help keep the driveway intact, preventing any chance of materials breaking off and causing problems.
Next, we took the step of installing a channel drain – a drainage system meant to guide rainwater away from the area. This would help keep the new driveway dry and reduce the risk of issues like flooding, erosion, and water damage. We also installed a low-profile inspection cover (often known as a manhole cover) to serve as an access point to the underground utility infrastructure.
After this, we laid down the binder course material. This would create a sturdy foundation for the driveway, making sure it stays strong and stable. We then installed a concrete block paver border around the driveway’s edges. This not only added visual appeal, but also kept the driveway materials neatly in place.
Finally, we laid a 6mm stone mastic asphalt surface course on top of the binder course. As the top layer of the driveway, it provided a smooth, durable, and aesthetically pleasing surface for driving and walking.

Now completed, the new driveway has transformed the look of Mr Miller’s property by giving it a fresh, modern facelift. He now has a smooth and durable parking area that will serve him well for years to come.
